Friday night lights - Memorial, Central, West, Bishop Bradley. The Puritan after the game. It mattered who won, but not that much after the cheerleaders showed up. We were rivals but most of all friends.
The "Cricket Club" with the "Fantasmics" playing "The Jolly Green Giant". "Pappy's Subs", Billy Lucci at "Verani's Pizza", gathering at Billy Auger's swimming pool, Dr. Thomas making a "house call" in the end zone, "Schubert's Gymnasium", Butto's fishing trips, Buddy Walsh and the "West Side Story" and of course, "The Ledge".
Then there were the "Submarine Races" to watch at Massabesic Lake after The Puritan. Funny, no one ever saw the submarines, but then again, no one ever looked!
If you had money and access to a car, you went to the outdoor movies; the "Sky Ray", the "Bedford Grove", the "Pine Island" or the "Manchester Drive In" with a friend or two hiding in the trunk. It didn't matter what movie was playing it was all about who was with you!
We had good times because we made them!---- And yes, we drank out of hoses.
