Billy, along with his teammates Daryl Buck, Ken Thomas and Mike Bradley led Manchester Memorial High to the 1963 Football State Championship and most notably what was termed by the Boston Globe as the New England Championship against Lawrence, Massachusetts. The contest proved to be electrifying under legendary NH coaches Bob Chabot and Hubie Mcdonough.
